PDS States
On your dashboard, you will see a status pill behind your PDS's name, the statuses it shows let you know what's going on.
During provisioning
- Preparing instance: we've kicked off the provisioning process where we prepare for creating all the bits and bobs that make your PDS run.
- Provisioning: we're having a chat with our provision gateway to actually create said bits and bobs; depending on whether we need to add more compute capacity, this can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes.
- Awaiting DNS setup: we're still waiting for you to add DNS records - it will stay in this state until that is done.
- Setting up DNS: when you're using marque.at, this means we're poking records into your repository to make it all work.
- DNS check failed: we've not managed to get DNS validated after a while, you may have to initiate a manual check by clicking the appropriate button.
- Provisioning failed: we couldn't actually provision the PDS. Admins receive a notification about this so we will most likely be diagnosing already, but get in touch with support.
When it's all up and running
- Stopping: The PDS is being stopped.
- Stopped: The PDS is stopped - this can be due to a settings change, a quota shrink operation, or a failure to start.
- Starting: The PDS is currently being deployed and starting.
- Unhealthy: The PDS has been started but is currently unhealthy (not responding), this is normal after starting for a short period (<2 minutes) of time. If your PDS has been showing this state for a while, get in touch with support.
- Running: The PDS is up and running, yay!
- Failed: The big "uh oh" - something has gone very wrong, and we couldn't start the PDS. Admins receive notifications about this so chances are we're diagnosing it, but it won't hurt to get in touch with support.
Extra special states
- Read-only: your PDS has been switched to read-only mode due to either a payment failure, a terms of service violation, or because you've cancelled your PDS and it's now in it's grace period before deletion (see also read-only mode).
- Suspended: your PDS has been suspended without reason.
- Being removed: we're removing your PDS and it's data, this happens when you've cancelled your PDS and reached the end of your billing period, plus the grace period, and we move on to actually zapping all the things.
